NUBLU

NUBLU

Nublu is the eclectic and unassuming East Village venue that remains the epicenter of a unique fusion of diverse musical elements. This has attracted the admiration of many people and it's been touted anywhere from the New York Times to Paper Magazine. I's no surprise to come across Lou Reed at the bar, Kevin Spacey checking out the bands, or Norah Jones dancing to Forro. Late last year, Jovanotti the Italian superstar chose Nublu as the place for his residency, and it was filled over capacity for eight straight weeks. Legendary artists like Gilberto Gil and David Byrne did secret shows and Moby said the he quickly realized he that he "had more fun DJing records for 75 people at Nublu than going on tour and performing in front of 10,000 people a night" XLR8R Magazine (2008). As one of the most unique venues in New York City, Nublu presents 800+ diverse shows annually, becoming an important part of the music community in New York.

Born in 2002, Nublu gave birth to world renowned bands such as Brazilian Girls, Wax Poetic, Forro in the Dark, Kudu and continues to be an incubator of many diverse bands and DJs. In 2005, Nublu launched it's record label under the same name and since then has released over fifteen critically acclaimed albums and it continues to expand its roster and its reach worldwide. Special guests on Nublu recordings include Bebel Gilberto, Norah Jones, David Byrne, Seu Jorge, and many more. The most recent signing includes Calibro 35, Italian funkateers who's music is inspired by 60s and 70s Italian film soundtracks. The album was released just a month ago to rave reviews! Nublu?s music is played across the country and around the world in many popular radio shows including NPR, BBC, and many others.

Nublu's music has been featured in popular TV shows such as CSI:Miami (CBS), United States of Tara (HBO), blockbuster film Surf's Up (Sony), Away We Go (Sam Mendes film), Brahma beer commercial and hugely successful video games such as FIFA Street 2 (EA Sports) and Midnight Club LA (Rockstar Games).  In November 2009, Nublu launched it's annual Jazz Festival, a two week music marathon which included over 60 shows. Nublu was invited to host a similar festival in Istanbul in March of 2010 and will be exporting its festival to Sao Paulo in October of 2010. Nublu also hosts special festivals throughout the year such as the CMJ Music Festival, Latin American Music Conference and many more music industry related events.
