Circus Produções Culturais (Cultural Productions Circus)
Circus Produções Culturais is a company specialized in planning, accomplishment and management of cultural and artistic projects, such as musical concerts, plays, exhibitions, and audiovisuals and literary products, among others. Created in December 2006 by Alessandra Ferros and Guto Ruocco, Circus has experience in elaboration and management of entailed projects to the incentive laws. Its philosophy is to transform a cultural action into a socially sustainable business, stimulating the work by means of artistic languages and its diverse sources. From these elements, it searches for longevity to the cultural events, as well as it provokes reflection in all the involved ones. Although, it started from a partnership between Alessandra and Guto, Guto is the man that runs this business nowadays. He's the production director for the company, but he is also a lawyer who graduated in Communication in the Cultural and Artistic Area of USP (São Paulo University) one of the most important universities in Latin America. He was a production director for Ivaldo Bertazzo from 2002 to 2005. Ivaldo is a renowned Brazilian choreographer who develops a very interesting work with social causes. "Dança das Marés" (the dance of the tides) and "Samwaad – Rua dos Encontros" (samwaad – street of the meetings) are among the spectacles he produced during this period. He was also responsible for the production of the soundtrack for "Milágrimas". Working in this area for more than ten years, Guto also worked for Babel Produções Artísitcas and there, he could work with the cream of the cream of Brazilian artists such as: João Gilberto, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Cássia Eller, Barão Vermelho, Os Paralamas do Sucesso, Djavan, Alceu Valença, Daúde and Los Hermanos, among others. In the group Casa Laboratório para as Artes do Teatro (laboratory house for the arts of theatre), He acted as a producer for the play "O Homem Provisório" (the provisory man), directed by Cacá Carvalho and freely inspired in "Grande Sertão: Veredas", by Guimarães Rosa.
Since its beginning Circus has been enlarging its international experience bringing artists from abroad and taking Brazilian productions to be presented overseas. In 2006 Guto was the tour manager for two seasons of "Samwaad": in Paris, At the Cartucherrie, Teatre Du Soleil that is directed by Ariane Mnouschi and in Amsterdam at the Amsterdam Dance Festival. He was also a production assistant for Mano Chao's tous in Brazil in the same year. In 2007 he produced "Paradise City", an Australian dance company's concert. In 2008 he brought "Kholwa Brothers" from South Africa, twice and also "Forró in the Dark", from New York, a group that develops its work based on Forró (For-all) a typical Brazilian rhythm. For October, 2008 he's still going to produce "Flat Land" and "Waste Band" for Arts of SESC International Festival. Both spectacles directed by Patrícia Portella from Portugal, who, nowadays, lives in Paris. He is also in charge of the spectacle choreagraphed by the Italian Armando Menicacci, that will be at the same festival. And in November, he will bring the respected Brazilian artist, who lives in New York: Bebel Gilberto.
